Mistakes to Avoid When Moving
What Not To do When You Are Relocating
It’s exciting when you decide to move to a new place, but it can also be stressful. There are a lot of things to think about when you’re moving, and if you’re not careful, you can make some costly mistakes. B.G. Moving Corp. is here to help you avoid these common mistakes.
One of the biggest mistakes people make when moving is not getting enough insurance for their belongings. Your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance policy may only cover a certain amount of your belongings, and if you’re moving to a new state, your coverage may be different. Make sure to check with your insurance company to see how much coverage you have for your belongings, and get additional insurance if necessary.
Another mistake people make when moving is not properly packing their belongings. This can lead to damage or even loss of items during the move. Be sure to pack everything securely and label all of the boxes so you know what’s inside. If possible, take pictures of your packed boxes so you have a record of what was in each one.
Another mistake that people make when they are moving is not setting aside enough time for the actual move itself. Packing up everything that you own and then transporting it to a new location takes time, especially if you are doing it yourself. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to pack and move, and try to avoid doing it all in one day if possible.
Another thing that people forget to do when they are moving is change their address with the DMV. This is important because your driver’s license will have your old address on it, and if you get pulled over or into an accident, the police will have the wrong information. Be sure to update your address with the DMV as soon as you know you are moving.
Finally, people often overlook the little details when they are moving. Things like changing your WiFi password or cancelling your gym membership can be easily forgotten in the midst of everything else that needs to be done. But these things are important too, so don’t forget to take care of them!
